2022

I drew a LOT in 2022! I had wanted to pay homage to more video game releases and anniversaries (Nier, Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition, Bayonetta, Sonic Frontiers, Pokemon Scarlet/Violet), which definitely motivated me a lot more to draw. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 also released this year, an incredible sequel to my most beloved video game franchise, and I just had to draw as many characters from the game as I could (there’s still so many more characters and ideas from there that I want to draw next year!).

I also did my first commission! I had never specifically marketed myself for commissions nor have I ever mentioned it, but it was nice for a friend to reach out and request a commission regardless. Was a fantastic stepping stone moving forward in my art journey.

In addition, with the overall climate of Smash tourneys getting worse (the metagame, playing during COVID, etc), I’ve honestly been getting demotivated to grind the game more. On top of that, there’ve been multiple art events / expos that I attended this year that made me realize just how much I want to dive in further into art, and how much more I need to learn. I wouldn’t even be surprised if I swapped to an actual art career years down the road.

One of the most significant events I went to this year was TwitchCon San Diego, where I got to meet so many of the art streamers that I hung out with virtually throughout the pandemic for over 2 years. All the conversations I had with them have never felt so genuine, and had only inspired me to keep pushing even more. With that, I had drawn way more this year than any other year, and it’s clear how much my skills have grown compared to prior years : )
